During the last 25 years the medical implications of ear piercing have changed dramatically.
Today, ear piercing carries with it the risk of life threatening blood viruses such as HIV and Hepatitis C and D.
The Dangerous Substances and Preparations (Nickel) (Safety) Regulations 2000 are now fully in force, (From 20th July 2001.) and has severe penalties for retailers who break this law.
The number of people suffering from nickel allergy has risen rapidly. (up to 20% of young women)
Consumers and authorities place ever increasing requirements on hygiene and safety.
Yet the equipment used for ear piercing today is very much the same as the equipment used 25 years ago or more.
Having become aware of these facts we could not resist the challenge of designing and manufacturing ….
